The Miles Industrial Park

Location

The Miles Industrial Park is located in the centre of Queensland’s energy hub servicing many major projects in the region, and is in the centre of a large farming and feedlot district.

Near the centre of Miles at the crossroads of the Leichhardt and Warrego Highways, the Miles Industrial Park provides direct access to key transport routes in all directions to the southern states, Sydney, Melbourne. Connecting to North Queensland, Cairns and Brisbane to Northern Territory, Darwin.

When the (currently being constructed) Toowoomba bypass is completed, it will reduce the trip from Brisbane by some 45 minutes, putting Miles within the key strategic 4-hour travel window from the Queensland capital.

United Petroleum Truck Stop

At the heart of the Miles Industrial Park development is the 24-hour truck stop, specially built to cater for trucks including road trains and wide loads to park and fuel on site.

With a restaurant, showers, truckies lounge and the strategic location, the United Petroleum Miles Truck Stop has become a key major stop for transport companies and the travelling public since opening in December 2016.

Opportunities

There are a range of different sized blocks available in the industrial park suited to a variety of business types including transport, engineering, workshops, rural supplies, machinery and truck sales to name a few.

Regional Economy Overview

The Western Downs is one of the top 20 largest regional council areas in Queensland taking in the centres of Miles, Chinchilla, Dalby, Tara, Jandowae and Wandoan.

The regional economy still depends heavily on its traditional base of agriculture with manufacturing and resources also becoming significant pillars in recent years.

While the last couple of years has seen some contraction due to slowing of the resource sector, the cycle is expected to turn again with some 60 major projects in the Western Downs region either in the early stages of operation or scheduled for commissioning by 2020, creating an estimated 12,500 jobs.

The above is a summary of information from Advance Western Downs (a strategic partnership between the Western Downs Regional Council, local Chambers of Commerce and key business leaders across the region).

For detailed information and reports, please visit www.advancewesterndowns.com.au

Of the major centres in the Western Downs region, Miles is the only one situated at the intersection of two major highways, making developments such as the Miles Industrial Park an excellent location for any new or existing business looking to capitalise on the region’s future growth.

Some of the key projects that will benefit Miles will include:

  • The inland rail
  • The $7 billion Glencore coal project at Wandoan
  • A $2 billion solar farm
  • The Surat Basin gas project

The Graincorp super depot is also right beside the Miles Industrial Park bringing a significant amount of service traffic into the immediate vicinity.
